The Wawin National School of Excellence in Morobe province, has urged the education board to respect the school governing board’s decision on retaining its current heads back this year.
The communities’ representative to School Governing Council Board, Mr. Jim Kelly, said the education board must respect the school governing board’s decision to retain the current school principal, Mr. Pal Pu and along with his two deputies back at Wawin National School of Excellence.
“We have come a long way and managed to place the school as the second best performing secondary school in the country.”
“We have plans to expand the school building infrastructures and improving ways on delivering effective teaching to produce competent students.”
“The National education board’s decision to post our current principal and his two deputies out of Wawin National School of Excellence will affect our long-term plans.”
The school responded after hearing that the National Education Board was in the process of posting a principal from Sogeri National School of Excellence and a deputy from Wabag Secondary school.
Kelly stated that under the current principal and his two deputies, the school has improved on putting best academic performances in the country last year and they would like to maintain that result.
He also added that the surrounding communities are likely to stage a peace protest by locking the school gate from commencing academic year this week or anytime if the national education board overthrows the school governing board’s decision to maintain its current school heads.
He said a meeting minute with resolutions to maintain the school heads has been passed and amended in the last meeting held last year and delivered to the National Education Board.
