Local Papua New Guinean singer/songwriter, Sailas Kania Jnr, best known throughout the country as ‘Saii Kay’ is launching his Malolo and Unlove Tour on the 1st of March at the Cosmopolitan here in the Nation’s Capital which will be the first of the twelve provinces that he will be touring.
“I am really psyched about the MALOLO and UNLOVE TOUR show.”
“Fans can expect all our latest hit songs. We are set on giving a really good show.”
“The first leg of the tour will be in the month of March.”
Following the tour launch on, 1st March at the Cosmopolitan, Saii Kay and Uralom Kania with the backing of the Minigulai band on tour will be performing in Lae at Club 99 on 8th March, Madang at Pils Rapa on 15th March and in Alotau at Cameron Club on 22nd March.
“I will be visiting twelve provinces in total.”
“I have only released four venues and dates so far, that’s for the month of March.”
“I will be releasing the next four dates in March.”
With the traction that his songs ‘Malolo’, ‘Unlove’ and ‘Haluma Radaaz’ have been getting on the airwaves across the nation, the singer is hopeful that he will be a nominee in the upcoming Yumi FM Music Awards.
Additionally performing with him on the night of is the Stagajah band who he says have performed together with him in the past as they go way back.
“It will be a massive show because they have their own fan base, and we have history together.”
“We go way back.”
He spoke appreciatively of the two studios- Trembone and Krazy Sounds Production for the production of the two songs, ‘Malolo’ and ‘Unlove’ as well as Statz Music for his contribution as well.
“Those who contributed to featuring on the album as well as those who helped with songwriting.”
“Also, to the fans for the never-ending love and support! Ol stap na mi stap [They’re why I am here now].”
As a singer in this country, when asked about if his thoughts on the issues our country is facing and how it affected the music industry, he stated that these issues don’t necessarily affect singers in the music industry.
“It doesn’t affect us in the music industry because we have not been really recognized, yet but I also think those in power need to work together for a better PNG.”
Furthermore, he was grateful to have come this far in his career and has encouraged other upcoming young singers to continue to work towards making a name in the industry.
“A word of thanks to God always and to anyone trying to make it in this industry, keep pushing and don’t give up.”
“Success does not happen overnight, and it takes years to build a craft.”
Meanwhile pre-sold tickets for the tour launch are still on sale at the Cosmopolitan Club for K60 and will be going for K80 at the gate on the night of the event.
