Rugby league fans in Port Moresby will have the chance to meet one of Papua New Guinea’s most celebrated sporting figures when Alex Johnston visits Rangeview Plaza for a special community meet-and-greet event on May 26, 2026.
Speaking ahead of the event, Roy Cruz said the initiative is more than just a fan gathering, describing it as a way of giving back to the community while celebrating Johnston’s achievements and Papua New Guinean heritage.
“As a true hero of Papua New Guinea, Alex symbolizes strength, resilience, and a deep love for his heritage,” Cruz said.
“This event also recognizes his incredible achievements as a rugby league legend.”
The event is proudly sponsored by Lae Biscuit Company Limited, with organizers expecting strong public turnout for the appearance by the NRL star.
Johnston is scheduled to arrive in Port Moresby on May 25th ahead of the main event the following day.
According to Cruz, registration for the event will begin at 10:30AM, with the first 200 shoppers who make purchases at Rangeview Plaza will be eligible to participate in the exclusive meet-and-greet.
“Lae Biscuit will verify same-day receipts of the first 200 shoppers at the designated area near Rangeview Grocer.”
The selected shoppers will receive free Alex Johnston merchandise and sample packs from Lae Biscuit’s Lewa biscuit range.
A product tasting session featuring Lewa Energy Biscuits, Coconut Cookies, and Chocolate Cookies will also be held during the event.
The formal program is expected to begin at 1:30pm with opening remarks from John F. Chow, Managing Director of Lae Biscuit Co. Ltd.
Cruz said Johnston will then deliver an inspirational message to fans before moving to Vantage Bar & Restaurant on the second floor of the plaza for an exclusive close-up meet-and-greet session with selected shoppers.
“There, the lucky shoppers will have the opportunity to take photos and interact with him directly,” Cruz said.
Apart from meeting the rugby league star, attendees can also expect a family-friendly atmosphere featuring entertainment, giveaways, product sampling, and community activities.
Cruz encouraged supporters to arrive early, describing the event as a rare opportunity to celebrate one of Papua New Guinea’s biggest sporting ambassadors.
“We are incredibly proud at Lae Biscuit Co. Ltd to bring this event to the fans, and we want to thank the community for their continuous support of our local products and our brand ambassador,” he concluded.
