The roads of Tokarara, Port Moresby, are undergoing significant road improvements thanks to the efforts of Pheonix Builders Limited (PBL).
The PBL Masonry and Concrete Team second in charge Mr. Kopsie Andrew told PNG HAUSBUNG on Friday 14th March at the Tokarara Dikagari Road Site.
The maintenance project covers the stretch from the Tokarara Primary School junction from the main road to the roundabout at the Housing Commission.
A dedicated 30-man team has been working relentlessly through the wet weather conditions, to ensure the project stays on track. Despite the challenges posed by the rain, the crew remains committed to completing the work efficiently.
The Masonry and Concrete Working team is currently focusing on constructing gutters along the road Wanmal Street to the Housing Commission roundabout, according to the Mr. Andrew.
He emphasized that most of the roads have already been sealed with tar from the Tokara Primary school-front road to Wanmal area up to Maria Street junction.
Furthermore, Mr. Andrew mentioned that the section beyond the Housing Commission roundabout still requires final sealing.
The process will include applying two layers of tar to ensure a durable and long-lasting road surface.
Once the culvert work is completed, pathways will be constructed, marking the final stage of the project.
Mr. Andrew also highlighted that after completing the Tokarara roadworks, the team will move on to Hohola, where they will address deteriorating roads.
He anticipates that the Tokarara project will be completed within two weeks, but the timeline for Hohola remains uncertain due to ongoing wet weather conditions.
Mr. Andrew concluded urging community members to take responsibility for maintaining the newly built infrastructure by keeping the culverts and gutters clean, ensuring longevity and preventing blockages.
