Member for Rai Coast District has come in to support Madang water police by handing over to them with a new boat to patrol the waters of the district.
Member Kessy Sawang, while presenting the new 60 horse power engine boat to the Madang water police unit, stressed that she is very committed to addressing law and order; however, she cannot do it on her own.
Sawang also thanked the Madang police for their support in addressing the ongoing law and order issues in her district.
“Rai Coast, as you all know, I have been facing a lot of law and order problem such as the ten year old Nahu rawa ‘Haus man’ cult movement, the current Nankina ‘het wara gang’ and also the sea piracy activity along the Rai Coast seas,” Sawang said.
Ms. Sawang revealed that she is now working on building modern police station and houses for police officers to station at Saidor station.
“Currently I have only two police officers stationed at Saidor, thus I need more men power of police force in my district that is why I am working on that,” she said.
She told the Madang police that this boat is just the beginning of the many assistance to come to address law and order issues in Rai Coast.
” As they say a journey of a thousand miles starts with a small step and I am probably at the that category,” Sawang said.
Meanwhile, Madang Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang, in response told MP Sawang that he is thankful for the support given to the water police and urged that the boat will purposely patrol only the waters of Rai Coast District to address the sea piracy activity.
