The Port Moresby Suburban Rugby League (PSRL) is gearing up for this weekend’s “Do or Die” semi- final matches following a successful round of games held last weekend. Last week Saturday and Sunday games were very tough knockouts resulting in wins and a few draws.
The B-Grade games showed impressive strength and endurance amongst the teams. Two teams ended in a draw and will rematch tomorrow. These two teams are Sogeri Hikers Eastern and the Northern Warriors. Toks Nest also was tied with Marane Rats, but Toks Nest will proceed to the semi- finals because it is ranked higher on the points ladder.
The A-Grade teams were relentless to secure their win, embracing the game and going toe- to- toe with the competitive teams. The A-Grade Marane Rats, Killerton Falcons, Mountain Bulls and the Waliya are set to take the field in the weekend’s semi-finals.
Meanwhile, on the behavioral part of the fans towards match officials during match days, the PSRL is happy to report that the rate of inappropriate behaviors of spectators have decreased and is hoping that this improvement of crowd behavior is maintained.
Points Collector and Draw Organizer, Mr. Judah John was pleased to mention the support from teams and their officials towards the PSRL Officials as well.
“We try our best to be fair during games, errors are inevitable when games reach critical stages, so it is up to the players to minimize them.”
“We work with minimum equipment to assist in decision making, it would be greatly appreciated for players to carry out ball plays correctly so referees can award tries without question.”
“I appeal to the A-Grade and B-Grade boys playing next week to maximize the time you spend at home and try to prepare early to be mentally and physically fit for weekend games,” he said.
This week’s Do- or- Die draw will commence on Saturday with four games; that is, two B and A Grade game each.
