The residents of the city of Port Moresby and the Central province are expecting power loadshedding this weekend because one of the gas- to- power plants just outside the PNG LNG plant site in the Central province, will be closed for a major upgrading work.
According to PNG Power Limited, the Dirio gas power plant that supplements the power supply to Port Moresby, will be shut down on Saturday 04th of March at 7am and coming back online on Sunday 05th of March at 6pm.
The shutdown is important because it will allow for the installation of the Statcom. The Statcom and other switchgears are part of the improvement plans to stabilize the grid and improve reliability on the network.
PNG Power will be putting out a separate schedule for the power load shedding for both Port Moresby and Central province for the public to see.
