Port Moresby residents gathered this morning for a unity walk against violence, led by Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae and NCD Governor Powes Parkop.
The event, part of the city’s annual “20 Days of Activism,” launched the “United to End Violence Against Women” campaign, calling for a safer, more inclusive city.
Starting at Sir John Guise Stadium, participants marched to Parliament Haus and back, chanting messages of support like “Stop violence against women and girls.”
The event attracted a diverse crowd, including men and boys showing solidarity against gender-based violence.
Sir Bob Dadae urged everyone to join the movement, stating, “This is a campaign we all should be involved in at all levels.”
The walk coincides with the NCD Women’s Expo and Summit, aimed at fostering community commitment to ending violence.
Police and NCDC security ensured the event proceeded safely.
The unity walk highlighted Port Moresby’s ongoing commitment to creating a safer city for all, with many calling it a powerful start to Redvember.
