Police responded quickly and saved the life of a man who was beaten up by a rowdy crowd and held captive at the ATS settlement outside Port Moresby last night before Police attended.
The wounded man and two others were allegedly carrying bush knives and acting suspiciously, when they were disarmed and beaten up by vigilant settlers at the ATS settlement.
The two others fled from the scene while one was apprehended by the community.
The wounded suspect is from the Highlands region.
Three Fox Units were quick to respond , when the matter was broadcasted on the police radio communications network, at around 7.45pm.
The police operations centre also contacted the Saint Johns Ambulance staff, who attended to the wounded man before being transported to the Port Moresby General hospital.
He will be charged for being in possession of an offensive weapon, once he is discharged from the hospital.
We dispel any rumors that this is related to the incident at Badili involving two ethnic groups.
