Police have arrested and detained a 29 year old male for the murder of his two sons aged 5 and 3 at Port Moresby’s Morata One settlement on Tuesday April 27.
NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Gideon Ikumu said Forensic and Homicide detectives attended the crime scene yesterday and immediately arrested and detained the suspect while bodies of the two victims were taken to the mortuary at the Port Moresby General hospital.
The suspect, employed by a IT company as a sales man was arrested for murdering his own children after a bitter argument with his wife.
NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Gideon Ikumu said the wife will be interviewed properly in the investigation to determine the cause and establish what actually happened at that time to instigate this heinous act.
Mr Ikumu appealed to friends and relatives affected by the killings to remain calm and allow police to investigate these crimes.
He also appealed to all potential witnesses in this crime incident to come forward and assist police in their investigations.
