The Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) marked Safe Sport Day on Thursday the 8th at Lealea Primary School through its Olympic Values Education Program (OVEP).
This event features an inspiring session led by H.E.R.O. athletes targeting grade 4 students, to impart essential lessons on fair play and respect both on and off the field.
The OVEP session aimed to instill the core Olympic values in young students, fostering an environment of fairness and mutual respect.
Through interactive activities and personal stories, the H.E.R.O. athletes emphasized the importance of these values in sports and daily life, demonstrating how they contribute to positive and inclusive experiences for everyone involved.
The current and former Team PNG athletes who are the H.E.R. O’s, ambassadors and role models promoting the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee’s organizational values of Honesty, Excellence, Respect and Openness.
Those who were present today at Lealea Primary were from the sport of Hockey, Touch Rugby, Powerlifting, Weightlifting, and Karate.
The event was actively well-received with students actively participating and engaging with the athletes, gaining valuable insights into the principles of fair play and respect.
The PNGOC remains dedicated to its mission of fostering sporting excellence and ensuring that its programs and activities remain encouraging and positive to create a respectful environment for all participants.
