Papua New Guinea has recorded six new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours ending 12 midday on Friday July 9, increasing the total number of cases to 17,340.
The cases were reported in four provinces: National Capital District reported three cases whilst Jiwaka, Madang and Morobe reported a single case each.
Of the six cases reported, four are males whilst two are females. Their ages range from 18 to 55 years.
Five out of the six cases were experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 at the time of testing.
The country’s COVID-19 cases now stands at 17,340 with 179 known deaths. Total cumulative recoveries stands at 16,975.
To date, a total of 136,187 people have tested for COVID-19.
All 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases.
Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 186,327,100 including 486,163 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll stands at 4,026,536 including 8,938 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
