Papua New Guinea has recorded 76 new COVID-19 cases last week, increasing the total number of cases to 15,848.
The cases were reported in eight provinces with Manus reporting the highest of 28 cases. Western Highlands reported 14 cases, Autonomous Region of Bougainville 13, East New Britain 10, New Ireland five, National Capital District four and Eastern Highlands and Jiwaka a single case each.
Of the 76 cases recorded, 53 were males and 21 were females. Their ages range between four to 75 years. At the time of testing, 55 cases were showing symptoms of COVID-19.
The country’s COVID-19 cases now stands at 15,848 with 162 known deaths. A total of 14,937 recoveries have been recorded.
To date, a total of 114, 671 people have been tested for COVID-19. All 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases.
Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 168,040,871 including 539,384 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll is at 3,494,758 including 11,3693 new deaths in the last 24 hours.
