Papua New Guinea has recorded 363 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours ending 12 midday on Thursday April 1, increasing the country’s total cases to 6,475.
Western Province reported 64 new cases of which 50 are males, 13 females and one not stated. Their ages range from nine years to 61. Six cases were showing symptoms of COVID-19 whilst 52 cases were asymptomatic at the time of testing.
NCD reported 186 new cases of which 96 are males and 83 females with seven not stated. Their ages range from 21 years to 67. One hundred cases showed symptoms of COVID-19 whilst 64 were asymptomatic at the time of testing.
Morobe province reported eight new cases of which five are males and three females, with ages ranging from 19 to 48 years. All eight cases were asymptomatic at the time of testing.
East New Britain province reported 58 new cases of which 27 are males, 29 females and two not stated. Their ages range from five to 63 years. Forty-nine cases showed symptoms of COVID-19 whilst nine were asymptomatic at the time of testing.
Simbu province reported 21 new cases of which 13 are males, seven females and one not stated. Their ages range from 17 years to 62. Nineteen cases showed symptoms of COVID-19 whilst two cases were asymptomatic at the time of testing.Central provinces reported 11 new cases of which six are males and five females.
Their ages range from 27 to 67 years. Four cases were asymptomatic whilst five showed symptoms of COVID-19 at the time of testing. Southern Highlands provinces reported eight new cases of which five are males and three females.
Their ages range from 36 to 60 years. All eight cases showed symptoms of COVID-19 at the time of testing. Hela provinces reported two new cases of which all two are males. Their ages range from 38 to 53 years. All two cases showed symptoms of COVID-19 at the time of testing.
A single case each was reported in East Sepik, Enga, Jiwaka, Madang and New Ireland provinces. Three of the cases were males whilst two were females between the ages of 30 and 67. Four cases were showing symptoms of COVID-19 whilst one was asymptomatic at the time of testing.
The country’s COVID-19 cases now stand at 6,475 with 60 known deaths. To date, NCD has recorded 48 COVID-19 related deaths whilst West Sepik has reported three deaths. West New Britain, Western Highlands and Western Province recorded two deaths each, whilst Enga, Jiwaka and Morobe recorded a death each, bringing the total number of deaths to 60.
Twenty provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases.

.Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 127,877,462 including 509,746 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll is 2,796,561 of which 8, 855 were reported in the last 24 hours.
