The 2025 Digicel ExxonMobil Cup Football will commence a 4-days Conference commencing today to improve club standard for the upcoming season in Port Moresby.
The PNG National Rugby League Competition (PNG NRLC) made this announcement yesterday 5th February 2025, stating the conference will commence today, Thursday 6th February and end on Sunday, 9th February.
According to the announcement, this 2025 Football Conference will be the largest ever, with up to 90 participants from various clubs gathering to prepare for the upcoming season.
Following the historic decision for PNG NRL team in 2028, the focus remains on creating or building a strong pathway for Papua New Guinean players through developing tough domestic competitions.
The conference theme for this year 2025 is ‘Building Better Clubs’.
It is critical for the development of participating clubs for success of the game at a national level.
The PNGRFL recognizes that better clubs provide greater opportunities for players to achieve their dreams. The conference will include education, training, and accreditation for club Strength and Conditioners, Medical staff, Coaches, Franchise Managers, and Club Chairmen.
General Manager of Pathways and Performance, Mr. Tony Archer expressed his excitement about the conference, highlighting the successful 2024 season and the importance of raising club standards for a better player environment. He also acknowledged the investment from great sponsors Digicel, ExxonMobil, Kumul Mineral Holdings Limited, MVIL and praised the partnership with the Australian Government through PacificAus Sports for enabling educational conferences to enhance skills and build capacity in rugby league.
Mr. Archer further emphasized the importance of clubs coming together to share knowledge and support each other to improve the Digicel ExxonMobil Clubs. He expressed excitement for the 2025 season, highlighting this stage as crucial for preseason preparation.
