PNG Air has advised passengers and the travelling public that flights into Kavieng, New Ireland Province have been suspended until further notice.

This is due to safety concerns over loose gravel following recent runway upgrade work.

The airline announced that this suspension of services is effective as of today until such time when the runway is suitable for safe operations.

It also advised passengers holding onto confirmed tickets to rebook onto later flights at no penalty once a confirmed resumption date has been decided, subject to availability.
