The National Gaming Control Board (NGCB) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Papua New Guinea’s tourism and cultural sectors by sponsoring the 2024 Goroka Show for the twelfth year running.
As part of its continued efforts to protect PNG’s rich cultural history, the NGCB is pleased to have secured a sponsorship of K250,000, retaining naming rights for this landmark event.
Imelda Agon, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NGCB, stressed the importance of the organization’s continuous support for national cultural events like the Goroka show.
“The NGCB is honored to support the Goroka Show, which celebrates the rich cultural diversity of Papua New Guinea.”
“Our sponsorship reflects our commitment to positioning Papua New Guinea as a tourism destination, preserving our cultural traditions for future generations, and supporting the local economy through tourism, art and culture.”
The NGCB Goroka Show, one of PNG’s most recognized cultural festivals, will take place at the National Sports Institute (NSI) in Goroka from September 13 to 15, 2024.
This year’s theme, “Promoting Unity in Diversity,” exemplifies the concept of bringing individuals from all origins together to appreciate their own cultures.
Keryn Hargreaves, Chairlady of the Goroka Show Committee, expressed her appreciation for NGCB’s ongoing support and stated that preparations are well on to welcome visitors from throughout the country and around the world.
“The Goroka Show’s success is due in large part to the NGCB’s funding.”
“This event encourages our people, particularly children and students, to value and celebrate their culture and identity.”
“It’s not just a show, but an educational experience for all who attend.”
This year’s festival is scheduled to draw visitors from 13 different nations and will include performances by 150 traditional singing ensembles.
The 68th NGCB Goroka Show, featuring bright cultural exhibits, traditional dances, and a celebration of PNG’s unique heritage, promises to be a national highlight, attracting both residents and tourists.
