Kumul Petroleum followed through on its commitment with the presentation of a brand new Toyota Hilux 4WD Double Cab Ute for ANGAU National Cancer Services this week.
The vehicle purchased at a value of about K168, 500.00 will provide additional resource to support the work of the unit particularly that of the new Radiation Oncologist provided for, by funding under a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Ministry of Health and Morobe Provincial Health Authority, that was signed on 19 August 2020 to support the improvement of the ANGAU National Cancer Services.
At this occasion, Kumul Petroleum Managing Director Wapu Sonk acknowledged the leadership of health workers and specialists to ensure that they continue to serve the health needs of communities and said that this initiative is a part of the greater contribution by Kumul Petroleum to enhance the health and wellbeing of the people of Papua New Guinea to have access to cancer treatment services through its support to ANGAU National Cancer Services.
Dr. Kipas Binga, Chief Executive Officer of Morobe Provincial Health Authority acknowledged Kumul Petroleum for keeping its commitment under the signed MOA to continue its support to the health sector in Papua New Guinea.
“With Kumul Petroleum’s support, we are about to bring in a key resource that has not been fully available for the past three to five years including the services of a fulltime Radiation Oncologist. The last patient to complete this radiation treatment was on 21 March 2017 following the departure of the then Radiation Oncologist.”
