NCD Police Command is reinforcing its partnership with the Department for Community Development & Religion (DFCDR) to support smart city policing and community safety.
Metropolitan Superintendent Warrick Simatab said the initiative highlights the importance of collaboration, reminding stakeholders that police cannot work in isolation to maintain law and order.
Key Highlights from the Visit,
1. Commending the Partnership
Superintendent Simatab praised DFCDR and its Secretary, Mr. Jerry Ubase, for their commitment and leadership in supporting safer communities.
2. Formal Request for Support
Police formally requested that DFCDR’s team of Police Reservists be deployed to assist with Safe City operations.
3. Specialized Team Deployment
The reservists will collaborate with Family and Sexual Violence Units (FSVU) and Criminal Investigation Division (CID) at local police stations, with a focus on protecting women and children from violence.
4. Leadership by Example
DFCDR Secretary Jerry Ubase, who also serves as a Police Reserve Chief Sergeant, will personally lead the deployment, underscoring senior leadership commitment.
Superintendent Simatab said the partnership demonstrates how collective action across government agencies can make Port Moresby a safer and more prosperous city for all residents.
