Police in Port Moresby city have demonstrated swift and effective action in tackling crime, successfully resolving several incidents in the past week.
The quick response by Police in handling reports throughout the past weeks have led to a boost in public confidence in Police, including the NCD City Wardens for ensuring order in public areas.
NCD Sector Patrol 201 swiftly recovered a stolen laptop and apprehended two suspects within 24 hours on January 21st, 2025. The victim led officers to the suspect, who confessed and revealed the laptop’s location. Police arrested the second suspect and recovered the laptop. Both suspects are now in custody, awaiting court appearances.
Police also responded to a break-and-enter at Glory Estate, Eight Mile, where ten armed men stole three phones, a laptop, and K30,000 in cash. Officers tracked one of the stolen phones, leading to the arrest of three suspects, who are now detained at Boroko Police Station. Efforts to apprehend the remaining seven suspects are ongoing.
Despite inappropriate language towards police officers including the attack of a police officer by a group of men at Erima Flyover Bridge, police have not wavered from their duties and continue to reinforce public safety and law and order throughout the city.
Meanwhile, only one of the alleged suspects was detained for questioning regarding the officer’s attack. Investigation have already kicked off to identify the group of men responsible.
The residents have recognized the tireless effort from the NCD Police Divisional Command including City Wardens in their dedication and quick response initiative, which have been instrumental in addressing crime and ensuring justice in public areas.
