The NCD Police Command has received six new vehicles from the NCDC to support policing and enhance community safety in Port Moresby city.
The vehicles were handed over during a ceremony at City Hall attended by Governor Powes Parkop, government officials, business representatives, and community leaders.
NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Warrick Simatab thanked the NCDC for the support, saying the new fleet will complement the Commission’s Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) program and contribute to the government’s Medium Term Development Plan IV and the National Policing and Crime Prevention Strategy.
“This is more than just a donation. It reflects the partnership we share in keeping our city safe and supporting the smart city program,” Superintendent Simatab said.
He also acknowledged the role of Port Moresby residents, business owners, and the Motu Koitabuan people as taxpayers, stressing that law and order is a shared responsibility.
Superintendent Simatab assured the public that the vehicles will be fully utilized through regular patrols and quick response operations, ensuring accountability for the community’s investment in policing.
Authorities expect the additional vehicles to improve police visibility and response times, contributing to safer communities across the capital.
