Athletics PNG has released its updated its 2021 Calendar of events now that it has become clear that there will be no PNG Games this year.
A number of major events will be held towards the end of the year, as was the case in 2021 when the pandemic delayed most sporting programmes for several months.
These events will form a key part in selecting athletes for the Pacific Mini Games in June next year.
The team will be announced early in 2022 , however athletes will be required to maintain a strong training commitment and perform well at final trials in March.
The PNG Air Regional Championships for both Southern and NGI Regions will be staged in Port Moresby and Kokopo respectively during the first half of November and the PNG Air National Championships in Kimbe from December 3 to 5.
The second part of the Grand Prix series , originally slated for September, will be held from 26 to 29 November in Kimbe. West New Britain will stage its own Provincial Championships in Kimbe during the third term holiday (Sept 25/26)
Athletics PNG will conduct training for Technical officials in Kimbe on September 23 and 24, ahead of the WNB Championships and in Kundiawa on December 13 and 14.
Coaching Courses are also scheduled for Kokopo (November 16 to 18) and Kundiawa (December 15 to 17).
