MADANG GOVERNOR CONDEMNS BARBARIC KILLINGS ON KARKAR ISLAND

Governor for Madang province Ramsey Pariwa, has condemned two recent killings at Kinim Station on Karkar island describing it as ‘barbaric and inhumane act’ executed by individuals.

The unfortunate incident involving the beheading of a person on Friday morning, November 7, 2025, at Kinim Station, has already gone viral on social media tainting a bad image of beautiful Karkar Island and Madang province.

Governor Pariwa said the killings of the two persons from Gial village by suspects from Urugen was uncalled for.

Governor Pariwa stated strongly that the act of killing the two deceased persons when they were already in the lawful precinct and custody of the police is totally wrong and uncalled for.

“We must respect the law and the lawful processes in place and abide by it and not to take the law into our own hands.”

“The ultimate act of beheading a deceased person as if he were an animal is so cruel in nature, and I totally condemn it.”

“Since when did our people of Karkar Island use this kind of method of fighting and killing each other? This is not our way of doing things and settling issues.”

Governor Pariwa stated that he has spoken with the Provincial Police Commander Superintendent, Robert Baim on sending police reinforcement and thanked him for deploying a Task Force team from Madang on Friday early morning to Karkar Island to enforce order on the ground.

Meanwhile, the Governor has called on the individuals responsible for the unlawful killings to surrender and give themselves to the police.

“I also call on the villages of both Gial and Urugen to observe peace and allow the law to take its course with the help of our police reinforcement on the ground.”

“I appeal to my communities on the island to assist police to do their work in enforcing the law and maintaining peace and order on the island.”

“We the people of Karkar and Madang are law abiding citizens and I appeal to all of us to observe and abide by the law.”
