Gumang William Miller, a notorious sea pirate and wanted criminal, has surrendered to Madang police.
The surrender was part of initiatives by TCU/NCIU Madang and CID Madang targeting long-evading criminals.
Acting Superintendent Robert Baim, Madang Provincial Police Commander, urged other criminals to surrender for their safety.
“We will take all measures to take you down; surrender and help develop our province.”
Miller is wanted for multiple sea piracy incidents and armed robberies along the coasts of Madang, West New Britain, Morobe, and Manus Province since 2015.
The event was attended by various police officials, community leaders from Morelang/Yabob, and Miller’s family.
Community involvement has led to several surrenders this year, with prominent artist Demas Saul calling for unity to encourage youths to abandon criminal activities.
Acting Superintendent Baim thanked the community for their support, highlighting the cooperation between law enforcement and residents as a positive step for Madang.
