Easter is a time to celebrate the sacrifice of the Good Lord, but for some this year, that celebration may have reached another level.
Congratulations to 5 mothers in the Kikori District of Gulf Province that delivered on the Weekend.
Matron of the Kikori Hospital Ladi Kalama said although they may have been down on medical supplies, they have managed to successfully deliver all babies.
“We had a very quiet Easter, but apart from that we had deliveries, we had about 5 deliveries.”
Kalama said most of them were mothers from nearby villages. Kikori Hospital, much like others around the country is not exempt from lack of Clinical Drugs, but they managed to pull off an impossible feat in successfully delivering the fives babies.
Kalama added that much has been talked about drug shortage around the country and for almost one and a half years, one could say that Kikori Hospital has been running on fumes.
“The Hospital has been without drugs for almost one year six months now. Since last year, we haven’t received routine drug supplies.”
Regardless of the lack of drugs, the commitment of those serving the people in the rural areas is nothing short of Heroism.
