The highly anticipated KCK Rigo Rice Cup (RRC) Tournament is now set to kick off on November 17th, following a rescheduling announcement during a recent KCK Rigo Rice Cup (RRC) sponsorship press conference yesterday in Port Moresby city.
The grassroots tournament promises to be an exhilarating rugby league events across Papua New Guinea with substantial support, including the recent sponsor from Construct Oceanic Limited.
The KCK RRC has ambitious plans over the next five years as the organizers aim to increase the prize pool to K1 million and expand the competition nationwide.
While being an inaugural event this year, the KCK RRC management will only accommodate men’s team to exercise swift event coordination before handling more teams into the tournament, especially for women and juniors to promoting broader participation and inclusivity.
Over 60 mens team have already been registered and will soon kickoff.
The games will be live streamed on social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitch to ensure enhance accessibility and engagement. Also ensures visual evidence for security purposes for management and game decisions in enforcing strict laws and regulations.
The tournament has established clear guidelines to ensure fair play and sportsmanship with teams limited to five domestic rugby league tournament players, with no more than three allowed on game day to invite other individuals to participate.
The event also aims to promote Rigo Rice, a locally produced rice, alongside rugby league.
