The KCK Rigo Rice Cup (RRC) is set to revolutionize the rugby league scene in Papua New Guinea through its unprecedented prize money of K200,000 and community-focused initiatives.
The KCK RRC tournament offers the highest prize pools with the first prize of K200,000, K60,000 second prize and K40,000 third prize, including consolation prizes.
Recently securing a significant sponsorship of K30,000 from Construct Oceanic Limited and accumulating its budget to more than K300,000, it marks the beginning of a high-stakes rugby season.
Construct Oceanic Limited representative Mr. Wale Molumi highlighted their commitment to community development, stating, “Despite the tough times, we believe in supporting activities that keep our youth engaged and away from negative influences.”
KCK RRC Chief Executive Officer Mr., McSteve Polly, expressed his excitement about the sponsorship and the tournament’s potential impact.
“This sponsorship will significantly boost our efforts to promote rugby league including young athletes. We are thrilled to see such strong community backing,” Polly remarked.
KCK Rigo Rice Cup in its inaugural year offers one of the highest prize pools along with various consolation prizes. The tournament aims to increase the prize pool to 1 million PGK and expand the competition nationwide in its five-year-plan.
Mr. Polly emphasized, “This is the first edition of the KCK Rigo Rice Cup, and it already stands out with its substantial prize money.”
The tournament has been postponed to November 17th due to a scheduling conflict while allowing additional time for team registrations. KCK RRC organizers expect a high number of participants from various districts, including central province and Rigo.
The KCK Rigo Rice Cup is on track to become a key event in PNG’s domestic sports scene, granting significant rewards and promoting community engagement.
