ISUZU WOMEN'S T20 SMASH SET FOR FRIDAY START
Today, Cricket PNG announced the final schedule and teams for this year’s edition of the ISUZU WOMEN’S T20 SMASH starting on Friday 25th April at Amini Park in Boroko, Port Moresby city.

Cricket PNG CEO, Richard Done, said, with the wet weather over the past few weeks, they have had to delay the start of this year’s T20 Smash.

“The men’s event will now be played after the women’s event from the 9th to the 17th of May, however, we hope that the last few days of better weather will allow the women’s event to get underway this Friday, ANZAC Day, the 25th of April,” Mr. Done said.

The confirmed schedule for the ISUZU WOMEN’S T20 SMASH is:

He said the ISUZU T20 SMASH is the premier T20 competition in PNG.

“As part of our desire to recognize new talent across the country, 18 of the 56 players selected in our women’s teams come from outside Port Moresby, from competitions in Madang, Popondetta, Ahioma, Lae, and along the Central coast. This follows the successful staging of various Regional Tournaments such as the Central Cup in 2024.

Alongside these regional players, we have both senior and U19 national players, and the best performers from the Port Moresby’s Cricket Association competitions last year.

“I’d encourage all cricket fans to come out and support the best cricketers in PNG in the ISUZU T20 SMASH, with the women’s event starting this Friday 25 April,” he said.

Donovan Brooks, National Sales Manager of Boroko Motors, said Boroko Motors is excited that they can finally get the ISUZU T20 SMASH underway.

“The partnership between Cricket PNG and Boroko Motors brings together talented cricketers from across the nation and will continue to help in fostering the next generation of PNG cricket stars by providing them with the competitive platform they need to excel,” he said.

The women’s teams will be coached by: Cassowaries Mudmen Black Bass Mariners Seilose Ambo, Lucy Ovia Pauke Siaka, Nao Kamea Pari. They will be assisted by several coaches from the POMCA competition throughout the week long event.

All matches will be at Amini Park in the Bisini Sports Precinct in Boroko. Entry to Amini Park is free for general admission for adults and free for children and students (with the appropriate ID). Grandstand tickets are available at K5.00 after general entry to the ground (on a first come/first served basis).

The ISUZU T20 SMASH will be streamed live and exclusive through NV Play and Cricket PNG YouTube channels, with live scores available on the Cricket PNG website.
