The Cricket PNG (CPNG) in consultation with Boroko Motors and the CPNG Board Chairman, postpones the start of Isuzu T20 Smash 2025 to the 4th of May, 2025.
Cricket PNG CEO, Mr. Richard Done, announced that the Isuzu Men’s T20 Smash event has been postponed to early May due to recent adverse weather in Port Moresby.
The announcement was addressed in a statement by Cricket PNG Media on 4th April, 2025.
While originally scheduled to begin on Friday, the decision aims to ensure optimal conditions for players, fans and to preserve ground conditions for top-level T20 cricket action.
However, the Isuzu Women’s T20 Smash is set to run from 25 April to 4 May, while the Men’s T20 Smash has been rescheduled to begin on 9 May.
A revised match schedule and event calendar will be released next week.
National Sales Manager of Boroko Motors Donovan Brooks, added that while it is unfortunate that the Men’s event has been postponed, Boroko Motors is fully supportive of the decision.
We are committed to ensuring that both players and fans have the best experience possible.
This decision will allow everyone to enjoy the matches in optimal conditions, and we look forward to the Women’s event starting as planned on April 25.
The premier cricket event, Isuzu T20 Smash, features four elite men’s and women’s teams in a double round-robin format with 12 matches per division, showcasing local talent at Amini Park.
Despite the delay, player safety and ground quality remain priorities, with continued support from Boroko Motors.
In the meantime, CPNG is using this opportunity to ensure all preparations are fine-tuned so that both tournaments run smoothly.
Staff and stakeholders will continue working behind the scenes to ensure the rescheduled launch is even more impactful.
CPNG extended their gratitude to teams and partners including fans for their understanding and ongoing support.
CPNG would like to let the public know that more updates, including the revised schedule, will be shared early next week.
