Today we remember a great man — indeed a Great Grand Chief.
Member for Hiri-Koiari Keith Iduhu stated that As we mark 50 years of Independence this year, today is an especially somber day as we celebrate the life and legacy of our founding father.
“50 years of Independence would not be possible without the contribution of Sir Michael Somare, and many other founding predecessors who began our PNG story.”
“Prior to me entering politics, I was privileged to have an occasional catch up with Sir Michael, sometimes over a glass of wine, and discuss many topics of interest.”
“He was a great conversationalist, always had time for others, and enjoyed the comforts of our country.”
“On behalf of the people of Hiri-Koiari and family, I pay my respects to Great Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare.”
“May we continue to honour his legacy,” Mr. Iduhu said.
