GC MANAGEMENT APOLOGIZES FOR MATCH VENUE BLUNDER

The NCD Governor’s (GC) match that was scheduled for Sunday 21st December at the Hohola Ipi Park did not take place due to the venue not available on the day.

The NCD GC Management team has since apologized for this, stating that the matter should be resolved soon and such situation would not happen again.

Speaking to PNG HAUSBUNG, GC Director Mr. Billy Aki acknowledged the inconvenience caused and accepted full responsibility for the situation.

“I sincerely apologise to the Hohola supporters and teams allocated to play at Hohola Ipi Park. This should not have happened,” he said.

He explained that the issue resulted from a breakdown in venue coordination, which led to a conflict in the scheduling of the matches and the venue, which was only discovered on match day.

Meanwhile, Hohola Games Coordinator Mr. Kambi Igiman also extended his apology for the unfortunate situation.

The Governor’s Cup is a major community-based tournament in Port Moresby, and organisers say discussions are underway with venue authorities to strengthen coordination and prevent similar incidents.

Despite the weekend incident, Mr. Aki and Mr. Igiman have pledged to ensure the smooth continuation of the tournament including commencing matches at the Hohola venue this week.
