Four Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at improving infrastructure and climate change mitigation were signed this afternoon following bilateral meetings with the France President H.E Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister James Marape at the APEC Haus, Port Moresby.
The first MoU signed is a declaration of intent on sustainable ports infrastructure between French Development Agency, the European Commission, the European Investment Bank, the Australian High Commission in Papua New Guinea and PNG Ports Limited.
The second was a letter of intent on greening the financial system between the French Development Agency, the Bank of Papua New Guinea and Global Green Growth Institute.
Third MoU was a financial agreement on energy transformation between the French Development Agency, PNG Power Limited and ENERCAL of K3.1million.
The fourth was the Contribution Agreement between EU and Expertise France’s status in PNG between the Foreign Affairs Department and Expertise France.
he MoU signings were witnessed by PM Marape and President Macron. Meanwhile, a press conference will be given by PM Marape and President Macro at 4pm this afternoon where the outcomes of much of the discussions will be revealed.
