The captain for FC Morobe Wawens Mr. Nathan Peter praised his sides support and preparation in defying defeat with a 2-0 victory over the Southern Youth FC in the grand final on December 14th, 2025.
At just 18 years of age, Nathan who hails from Buang in Bulolo District of Morobe Province, proudly praised the performance and support from the field to each home.
He highlighted the performance embodied discipline and basic tactics which was strongly exercised in training.
According to Nathan, training preparations delivered a confident team to take the field.
He also stressed that the coaching staff has always been supportive through patient and understanding towards each player.
“Our coach is not hard on us but understanding to us players and all the boys we travelled together with.”
Nathan highlighted that no player was left behind and praised the club’s commitment to rewarding players with the experience to travel as a team and support each other.
He further underlined the club’s commitment and dedication through purchasing additional airfare-tickets for players not in the official team list.
Although 30 players were listed on the squad, only eighteen were officially declared to take the field.
Furthermore, the 18-year-old captain expressed his goal to soon play alongside his senior brothers and role models in the premier division and plans to work hard to officially earn his place among them.
Although young Nathan leads the youth division, he has expressed his desire to play in the senior level.
Under the leadership of Nathan, the FC Morobe Wawens delivered a confident yet weary match, suffocating the Southern Youth FC from attacking tactics.
The youth division showcased some of the nation’s emerging male talents, showcasing the rising standard of youth football in PNG.
