A 29 year old man from East Sepik province is now in Police custody after he murdered his two children, within their rented accommodation at Morata number one in Port Moresby at around 5pm on Tuesday afternoon.
The two boys aged five and two years of age were repeatedly stabbed by their father, who also tried to take his own life but was restrained and held by members of the community.

Police were alerted and Waigani Police, Mobile Squad Unit and Fox 201 responded, went to the scene and took custody of the assailant. CID Homicide and Scene of Crime Detectives also attended to the scene.
St John's Ambulance who arrived at the crime scene attended to the double murder and transported the bodies of the two deceased boys to Port Moresby General Hospital.

This incident has left members of the community at Morata 1 shocked.
NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Gideon Ikumu will release details after a full report is compiled by CID Homicide Detectives after the man is formally charged for the double murder.
