The Corporate 7’s Slow Pitch Softball Tournament has kicked off at the Bisini Softball Diamond in Port Moresby, drawing a record-breaking 13 teams this year.
Constantine Bais, the Port Moresby Softball Games Coordinator, expressed his excitement about the tournament’s growth, noting that participation has doubled since its inception.
“Last year we had only six teams, but this year marks the second edition of the tournament, and we’ve attracted double the number of participants, with 13 teams competing for the championship,” Bais stated.
Among the formidable contenders are reigning champions PNG Power, runners-up Nasfund 1 and Nasfund 2, as well as teams from DIGICEL, Alpha Insurance, NCSL, US Embassy, PNG Air, Swire Shipping, and NEWMONT.
The tournament, spanning two weekends, has already witnessed intense competition in Pool A and Pool B, with NEWMONT leading Pool A and NCSL dominating Pool B remaining undefeated thus far.

Bais emphasized that the Corporate 7’s tournament is just the beginning of an eventful year for softball enthusiasts.
“We have a full calendar ahead, including the upcoming Annual Money Ball Tournament for our senior men’s competition, which will pave the way for our official season,” he explained.
The tournament’s venue is at the Bisini Softball Diamond, with games starting promptly at 9 o’clock in the morning, followed by the semi-finals after lunch this Saturday the 23rd, and the finals playoffs on Sunday the 24th.
