The Connect PNG Programme continues to establish links for the remotest parts of the country to the main centers, enabling connectivity and economic growth.
Prime Minister James Marape said the National Government’s flagship road and infrastructure programme is now delivering one of the largest roads and bridge expansion programmes in the country’s history.
The Prime Minister highlighted major transport corridors currently being upgraded or connected, including:
- Lae to Port Moresby
- Port Moresby to Alotau
- Kimbe to Kokopo
- Wewak to Vanimo
- Major upgrades along the Highlands Highway from Lae to Mount Hagen and onward to Tari and Enga Province
- Kiunga to Telefomin
He said similar infrastructure expansion is also taking place in Bougainville, Manus Province, and the New Ireland Province.
“These are economic arteries for national growth and development. Papua New Guinea’s road network today is significantly more advanced than it was a decade ago,” the Prime Minister said.
