It is with greatest sorrow and heartache at the Passing of one of Morobe’s Senior Statesman and Papua New Guineas Founding Fathers, The Late Sir Jerry Kasip Nalau.
The Late Sir Nalau was a household name in Morobe and Papua New Guinea alike. He was one of the founding fathers of the then “Bully Beef Club” now known as Pangu Pati which eventually led Papua New Guinea into Independence.
He served the country as a District Commissioner as well as being a Kiap. He then returned to his Province to be elected in the Provincial Assembly to ultimately serve as Premier, served as MP for Lae West then being appointed as Minister for Labour & Employment and eventually under the new Provincial Government Reforms, served as Morobe’s first ever elected Governor.
His departure leaves a great vacuum of Leadership, signifying Morobe’s contribution to Nation Building and one that cannot be replaced easily.
I as Governor of the day, on behalf of the nine districts and thirty-three local level governments of Morobe Province, my Family and Staff would like to extend my Deepest Condolences & Sorrow to the family and friends of the Late Sir Jerry Nalau.
Words cannot express the Leadership Values of a man of his caliber, who has now left to the younger generation to aim for Leadership Aspirations that represent the greater development of Morobe Province and Papua New Guinea as well.
“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for interests of others,” Philippians 2:3-4
HON GINSON. GOHEYUC. SAONU, MP (GOVERNOR MOROBE)
