Registrations are now open for the RSPCA PNG inaugural Charity Golf Day scheduled for the 24th September, 2021. This four-person Ambrose event will be hosted at the Port Moresby Golf Club and team registration is K3, 000.
RSPCA PNG Executive Assistant & Public Relations Karen Swale said business houses and individuals have been given the opportunity to sponsor a hole for K1, 000.00.
“The fundraising drive is to raise money to cover the operational costs of the RSPCA’s Education and Adoption Programs”, said Karen.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals PNG Education program started in 2010 and teaches about responsible pet ownership and wildlife conservation, which are the two major issues affecting the welfare of animals in our country.
The program employs a Coordinator and two casual employees who carry out weekly visits to primary and elementary schools within the Nation’s Capital.
Annually, at its current capacity the program reaches over 15,000 to 20,000 students, teachers and members of the general public.
“It is a goal of the organization to be able to take this program across the country”, added Karen.
The RSPCA PNG’s Shelter and Adoption program helps animals get their second chance in life. For every animal that we are able to save and put up for adoption, it costs us an estimated K2, 500 to provide food, water, basic medical treatments including vaccination, and to have the pet neutered/spayed.
“On average, we have 30 to 40 dogs on our adoption program per month and for cats, we have an average of 10 per month”, said Karen.
