The Lae Snax Tigers were crowned champions of the 2025 Digicel ExxonMobil Cup after overpowering the PRK Mendi Muruks 36-16 in the Grand Final showdown at the Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby on Sunday 14th September 2025.
Although the Muruks surged in the final minutes, the Tiger’s aura proved too ruthless in both halves leaving no room for errors.
The Tigers dominated the opening half, striking with four tries that showcased their attacking depth and sharp execution.
Mark Alunga, Douglas David, Terry Wapi, and Joel Gena all crossed the line in quick succession to silence the Muruks’ defense. With Gena adding three successful conversions and Alunga slotting a penalty, Lae established a commanding halftime lead.
The Muruks managed a lone response in the first half through Ezekiel Yaru, converted by Mark Tony trailing 6-24, but failed to build momentum in the second period.
Despite showing resilience after the break, the Muruks could not breach the Tigers’ defensive wall, leaving Lae in full control.
With this clinical performance, the Lae Snax Tigers reaffirmed their status as Papua New Guinea’s premier rugby league Club, clawing out the 2025 title in dominant fashion.
The Tigers victory stands as a Testiment to Head Coach Noel Zeming’s commitment to coaching, guiding and building a relentless mindset of Rugby athletes.
The outspoken coach Zeming also collects this victory as his first Premier Title.
Furthermore, Coach Zeming mentioned his delight to take win after a long overdue wait, and acknowledged the victory as a compliment for the Nation’s 50th Independence Anniversary.
