A police investigation is now underway following initial identification of the young male whose decomposed body was discovered in late March along the Hiritano Highway, Central Province.
It is alleged that the victim was killed by police and his body later dumped at the location where it was discovered.
This comes not long after the incident at Gaire, along the opposite end of the province, where another young man was shot and killed by a police officer.
Central Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent John Midi, strongly condemned the alleged involvement of police personnel in both instances.
“We are very serious about sorting out this problem which is now dividing us (the police) and communities.”
“I appeal for understanding though I know we don’t deserve such with this kind of outlook, but for the betterment of everyone, we have to work together.”
“I would like to continue in working together with the people to address this matter and move forward in a more positive manner in the policing of Central Province.”
PPC Central further assured the family of the deceased and the people of Central province that he is committed to ensuring that the offenders in this case will face the full brunt of the law.
