The casket of the late Morobe Governor Luther Akis Wenge, was kept overnight at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Indoor Stadium in Lae, allowing the people of Morobe Province to pay their final respects to their beloved leader.
The overnight vigil gave thousands of Morobeans the opportunity to gather, mourn, and bid farewell to the late Governor, whose leadership and legacy have left a lasting mark on the province and the nation.
The main State Funeral is scheduled to take place today, Wednesday 08/10/2025, at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium, where national and provincial leaders, dignitaries, and citizens are expected to attend.
As of this morning, the casket remains at the Indoor Stadium, awaiting the arrival of Prime Minister James Marape and his delegation before the official funeral program begins.
Due to the delay in the Prime Minister’s arrival, the State Funeral proceedings are expected to commence around midday.
