Former SP PNG Hunters and Kumuls player Keven Appo, has immediately been let go of by the Bradford Bulls after being charged with a number of offences, including rape.
The 25-year-old was charged with rape, sexual assault on a female and two counts of assault on Friday, 3rd of January 2025.
“He has been bailed and is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court on Monday 6th January 2025,” a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.
“The charges relate to an investigation by Calderdale District Adult Protection Team following a report made in April 2024.”
The Bradford Bulls issued a club statement, which said that a search for Appo’s replacement is underway.
“Following today’s West Yorkshire Police statement, the Bradford Bulls have cancelled Kevin Appo’s playing contract.”
“Given the circumstances, the club is duty bound to make no further comment at this stage.”
“The search for a suitable, quality replacement is underway.”
Appo joined Bradford in 2023, making 61 appearances for the club over a two-year period. The 25-year-old made three appearances for the Kumuls, he initially made his breakthrough in the game with the PNG Hunters before signing-up with Bradford.
