Cricket Papua New Guinea (CPNG) has confirmed that Barramundis player Kipling Doriga has appeared in court in Jersey in the United Kingdom (UK) this week following an incident that occurred on Monday, August 25.
Doriga pleaded guilty to the charge of robbery when he appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on the morning of Wednesday 27th August.
He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to return to Jersey’s Royal Court on November 28th for sentencing.
In a statement released today, CPNG said the matter is being treated as an individual case and will not impact the team’s ongoing participation in the tournament.
Officials have indicated that no further individual comments will be made at this stage, with CPNG emphasizing that the team remains focused on fulfilling its tour commitments.
The Barramundis are scheduled to play two more fixtures in Jersey as part of their current tour.
