While Blues coach Brad Fittler was impressed by the dominance of his side’s 50-6 game one win in Townsville, knowing game two takes place at a venue where he is win-less as an Origin coach has tempered any excitement. The Blues are zero from three in Brisbane since Fittler took over in 2018, and the NSW coach was uncharacteristically sedate after his side dismantled the Maroons on Wednesday night. “It is [satisfying] without a doubt but we haven’t won at Suncorp for three years now,” he said. “That’s the challenge. [Game one] over now so the challenge is Suncorp. We haven’t…
Queensland star Cameron Munster has apologised for a moment of madness where he appeared to kick NSW forward Liam Martin but says he doesn’t have an issue controlling his emotions when the result goes against him. Munster and Martin clashed in the 55th minute of the record 50-6 victory by NSW in Origin I, the flashpoint moment attracting a grade one contrary conduct charge and $1150 fine if he enters an early guilty plea. But prop Moe Fotuaika faces a one game ban for a grade one dangerous contact charge for a late shot on Latrell Mitchell in the 22nd minute…

The parents of a 16-year-old boy who died from a fentanyl overdose in Los Angeles have started a petition calling on social media apps like TikTok and Snapchat to change their policies. Dr. Laura Berman and her husband, Samuel Chapman, have garnered more than 32,000 signatures on the petition asking TikTok, Snapchat and Discord, in particular, to allow parents to have more control over their kids’ activity on the apps through third-party safety apps like Bark. Bark uses algorithms to alert parents when it detects potential risks on their kids’ social media activity on apps that allow its software including Facebook’s Instagram, Twitter and YouTube, which are popular among…
After finally getting the chance to start in his preferred second-row role, Tariq Sims has vowed to target Daly Cherry-Evans with controlled aggression on Wednesday night. Sims has previously represented the Blues in the 2018 Origin decider and the second match of the 2019 series but on both occasions, he was selected on the interchange and played mainly as a middle forward. However, with Sydney Roosters forwards Boyd Cordner and Angus Crichton unavailable, Sims received another call up as NSW’s left edge second-rower and he aims to keep his spot in the Blues side for the entire series. “I am…
The first inclination can be for coaches to overuse a barnstorming talent like David Fifita but if the Maroons use the powerful forward strategically they can get the best out of him in the Origin arena. Fifita finally gets his chance to prove he is a big-game performer with his first start in the Origin arena in Game I in Townsville. He missed all of last year’s Ampol State of Origin series due to a knee injury but as a 19-year-old debutant in 2019 he managed just 150 metres across three games in 82 minutes of action playing off the…
