National Agriculture Quarantine and Inspection Authority (NAQIA) laboratories will be refurbished to help improve Papua New Guinea’s capacity to detect and control emergency animal diseases. The National Animal Heath & Food Testing Laboratory (NAHFTL) Facility in Kilakila will be renovated through the Pacific Horticultural and Agricultural Market Access Plus Program (PHAMA Plus) funded by the Australian Government. Two members of Parliament have joined the ruling Pangu Pati in an announcement made by the Prime Minister yesterday. The move takes Pangu Pati’s number to 37, following the suspension of another Pangu Pati member by the courts yesterday. The two MPs include South Bougainville MP and Minister of Information and Communication Technology Timothy Masiu and Bogia MP Robert Naguri. Prime Minister James Marape officially launched the Forest Carbon Pilot Project at the Afore District Sub-Station, Oro Province. This new project is unlike the Carbon Trading Program where countries are given credits for just conserving their Rainforest.
