Over the weekend, Navy ship HMPNGS Lakekamu successfully transported three RPNGC armored vehicles and other vital election materials from Port Moresby to Lae. The PNGDF Landing Craft left the shores of Port Moresby on Tuesday 24th June and sailed all the way to Milne Bay, Popondetta and finally arrived in Lae to deliver the election items. The three armored vehicles were than driven out of the ship and given to members of the RPNGC who were at the wharf to receive the vehicles. A total of 309 reserve police recruits graduated after completing five weeks of training at the Bomana Police College in Port Moresby in time for election security duties. The 309 graduates, which included 123 women, are Police Reserve Intake 2 of 2022. Election materials for the Western Highlands Province arrived in the province and have been safely and securely stored away, says Highlands Eastern-End Divisional Commander Assistant Commissioner Rigga Neggi. Mr Neggi said the materials were picked up by security personnel at the Kagamuga airport in Mt Hagen and brought directly to the Kimininga Police Barracks in the Western Highlands province.
