Following the recent 7.6 magnitude earthquake, schools in Morobe province have taken the brunt of the natural disaster. The Provincial Education Board, Morobe Division Director, Mr. Keith Tangui has advised that they have been receiving reports from all over the province. Incumbent NCD Governor, Powes Parkop has retained the NCD Regional seat after a nail-biting final exclusion which saw 2nd runner-up, Wari Vele. 47,008 votes were distributed amongst the remaining 2 candidates, Andy Bawa, and the incumbent governor. Police in Southern Highlands Province have successfully facilitated a temporary ceasefire and peace agreement with the rival factions in the province.
