A total of 56 persons, allegedly involved in Monday’s riot at Koki, in the National Capital District, were arrested and detained today following a massive police operation across the Koki suburb. NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Silva Sika personally took charge of this operation to identify and arrest the suspects responsible for Monday’s carnage. The National Capital District Rugby Union, Nou Asigau recently announced the dissolution of the competition, informing the PNG Rugby Football Union [PNGRU] President Paul Siwi of their immediate dissolution through a letter earlier this month following the association’s inability to comply with requirements set by the Body. Police in the Nation’s Capital have detained a man alleged to have murdered a street vendor in the early hours of Monday morning. Badili Police Station Commander, Inspector Jerry Obert said the events that occurred were a backlash from members of the public particularly those from the settlements in the vicinity of Koki. The First ever Bali to Port Moresby Citilink flight landed today at the Jackson’s International airport welcomed by delegates of the Indonesian Embassy and those of the Foreign Affairs Department.
