For the first time even, people with special needs from across all three regions of Bougainville got together to actively participate in the Bougainville Disabled Persons Organization (BDPO) annual general meeting and election of board members. St John Ambulance services is currently carrying out a refreshed Advanced Safe Driver training course for new recruits; a significant upgrade to the previous emergency driver training program. The emergency driver course covers everything from end-user vehicle maintenance, to emergency driving techniques, low-risk defensive driving skills, and hazard perception training. Toma Local Level Government in the Gazelle district of East New Britain province was the first in the province to complete the national census exercise last week. The Teaching Service Commission has announced that all teachers across the country will be paid a 3% increment based on a Memorandum of Agreement that was signed between the Teaching Service Commission and PNG Teachers’ Association on the Determination of Salaries and Allowances in the Teaching Service 2023-2025. The National Census exercise is progressing well in Pomio District of East New Britain province, with some Local Level Governments (LLGs) nearing completion after the first week.
