The Gugu Hire Cars Rabaul Softball Tournament is currently underway at the Queen Elizabeth Park in Rabaul, East New Britain (ENB) province after opening on the Thursday 28th September. The tournament is timely as it supports the Rabaul Softball Association’s efforts to revive the code. The 21 teams are participation in both the men’s and women’s division, coming in from Rabaul, Kokopo and Gazelle districts. The tournament will end on Sunday. Regular power supply will be restored to the Namatanai Town and surrounding villages in New Ireland Province, now that work has begun on a new biomass power plant at Mageh Plantation, which is situated just outside of Namatanai Town. Funds for Independence Day Celebrations were transparently distributed across all the wards in the Nawaeb District in the Morobe District. The Kainantu District in the Eastern Highlands Province (EHP) now has a District Development Plan to guide and implement its development aspirations after the district launched its 5- Year Development Plan over the long independence weekend.
